I received OD and MS degrees from the Ohio State University in 1976, and a PhD from the University of Alabama Birmingham in 1996. I have practiced in private practice, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Navy, and with Schaeffer Eye Center in Birmingham, AL. I was a research scientist at the Naval Aerospace Medical Research Lab in Pensacola, FL, and later served as the Research Director for the Navy Refractive Surgery Center in San Diego, CA. After 30 years of military service, I completed a residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the UAB School of Optometry where I am now an Associate Professor teaching contact lenses and practice management. I attend in our Contact Lens and Primary Care Clinics. I am a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry and the Scleral Lens Education Society.
