  • OGML Casting Call

As ASCO continues to move forward with our Optometry Gives Me Life (OGML) campaign, we are looking for another Doctor of Optometry to feature on the Futureyeedoc.org website and in other promotional materials along with our current doctors – Dr. Jeffrey Lewis, Dr. Muriel Martinez and Dr. Miki Lyn Zilnicki.

As we did before, we are hoping to get your help in this area as you all know so many great ODs that are currently practicing and have great stories to tell. Feel free to distribute as widely as possible.

Please check the discussion area for a document containing the casting profile, in addition to the information needed from the candidates.

We have a very quick turnaround time. The deadline to submit is August 4, 2021.  Please have all information sent to Paige at ppence@opted.org.

If you have any questions, please let me know.  Thanks so much for your help!

  • $250K grants to support underrepresented researchers

From the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation:

Diversifying who does research makes evidence stronger and helps us put that evidence into action. Yet racism and discrimination often stand in the way of the career path for many people, especially Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), individuals from low-income communities, individuals with disabilities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and first generation college graduates.

RWJF's new Health Equity Scholars for Action program provides support to help you thrive professionally and personally, and contribute to evidence that can help build a Culture of Health. Grants, up to $250,000 each, are available for research projects about health, well-being, and equity; the award includes mentorship and coaching as well as a community of support to help build your network and develop career opportunities.
