Bio

Dr. Renée Reeder is the Dean at the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Optometry or KYCO and holds the rank of Professor.  Dr. Reeder has over 25 years of optometric education with nearly 20 years in either clinical or academic administration.  Even as Dean, Dr. Reeder continues to teach in topics related to dry eye, infectious microbiology, anterior segment disease and specialty contact lenses while also providing patient care in KYCO’s Advanced Cornea Care Service. 

Dr. Reeder is a Diplomate in the Cornea and Contact Lens Section of the American Academy of Optometry and holds fellowships in the American Academy of Optometry, the British Contact Lens Association, the Scleral Lens Education Society, the International Association of Contact Lens Educators and the National Academies of Practice.  She is currently the Chair of the AOA Contact Lens and Cornea Section, Diplomate Award Chair for the AAOCCLRT, and a board member of IACLE.

In 2018, Dr. Reeder was named the GPLI Practitioner of the Year and received the AOA Contact Lens and Cornea Section’s Achievement Award and in 2020 she was named the IACLE Educator of the Year for the Americas.  In 2021, Dr. Reeder received the Lions Clubs International President’s Leadership Medal for her work as a zone chair in Lions District 43Y.
