Bio

Dr. Keyur Savla (Assistant Clinical Professor) currently teaches Optics and Contact Lenses. He brings a distinctive combination of clinical expertise and research experience that enriches both patient care and student learning. Originally from Mumbai, India, Dr. Savla earned his Bachelor of Optometry degree from Lotus College of Optometry before completing his Doctor of Optometry and PhD in Vision Science at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His doctoral research centered on the use of multifocal contact lenses for myopia control, a growing area of importance in vision science and clinical practice.

At UMSL, Dr. Savla is deeply committed to training the next generation of optometrists. He teaches and mentors students in both the classroom and clinical settings, emphasizing evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and compassionate patient care. His clinical interests span contact lenses, myopia management, ocular surface disease, and anterior segment disease. 

Beyond his academic role, Dr. Savla is actively engaged in advancing optometric education on a global scale and continues to contribute to the profession through scholarly work and research. His dedication to bridging education, research, and clinical practice reflects his passion for improving vision care worldwide.
