Bio

​Teisha Johnson, M.S. is the Senior Director of Admissions for the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) located in Chicago. She has spent the past 20 years in higher education working with students from undergraduate to professional school. Her expertise includes admissions, minority recruitment/enrollment, and higher education marketing. Over the last eleven years while at ICO, she has served on a variety of admissions related panels across the country for prospective students and pre-health advisors. She frequently speaks with various undergraduate student organizations and classes regarding ICO and the profession of optometry.  She developed and directs the weeklong Focus on Your Future Summer Program, for underrepresented minority students interested in the optometric profession.

At ICO, she serves on a variety of committees: Admissions Committee, Institutional Review Board, Alumni Scholarship Committee and the Multicultural Scholarship Committee. She is a member of NAGAP, The Association for Graduate Enrollment Management, the National Association of Medical Minority Educators (NAMME) and is a patron member of the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP). She has held various positions regionally and nationally with NAMME and is currently the Central Region Director. Since joining NAGAP, Teisha has has served on the NAGAP Marketing & Membership Committee, NAGAP’s 2014 & 2015 Conference Chair and is currently serving on the Board as Secretary.

Teisha received her B.A. in Liberal Arts from Columbia College Chicago and M.S. in Marketing Communications from the Illinois Institute of Technology Stuart School of Business.​
