Dr. Javier Gantes-Nuñez earned his Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the University of Guanajuato, Mexico, in 2012. He pursued his graduate studies, including both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, under the supervision of Prof. Zacarías Malacara-Hernández, Prof. Daniel Malacara-Hernández, and Prof. Sabino Chávez-Cerda at the Centro de Investigaciones en Óptica, Mexico. His graduate research focused on the quality of vision.
In September 2018, Dr. Gantes-Nuñez joined the Visual and Eye Research Institute (VERI) in Cambridge, UK, to develop computer-based eye models, working under the guidance of Prof. Juan Tabernero at Anglia Ruskin University.
In March 2020, he began a postdoctoral fellowship at the Indiana University School of Optometry, working in the Clinical Optics Research Lab under the supervision of Dr. Pete Kollbaum.
In July 2023, Dr. Gantes-Nuñez was appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Arizona College of Optometry, Midwestern University.
